Salvador Vega: art, torería and fortitude
By Damián Bernal
October 2020
Salvador Vega´s reencounter five years after with the public bullfighting, has been one of the events of a season reduced by the pandemic.
It took place in Estepona and it remains in the memory of the assistants as any other marvelous midsummer night´s dream. The trophies (in this case two ears and tail) are residues, yes; but they are used to measure the dimension of the performance of the one from Málaga. His batch, from Luis Algarra´s encierro was the right one to exhibit with both cape and red cape the exquisite value of his bullfighting.
Great performances with fortitude, those ones that make an impression with ease, nibble and torería. Both performances with a measured length that is not in fashion nowadays in a contemporary loose bullfighting and with numerous warnings on the bull´s face. So, the one who wants more must come back to see Vega…
I hope next year and without a mask! Together with Vega a Cayetano that surmounted in his second bull. His effective sword made him successful. There was no option for the always awaited Pablo Aguado. Once more, it was gone down the drain!
After the paseíllo a minute of silence was
held for the victims of the pandemic.
El Fandi, probably the most powerful at
the banderillas stage.
