Nobody wants to miss it – Pilgrimage 2019

Today getting up early isn’t hard at all. I have to get prepared with enough time. First, I have to get dressed. So many details and also some doubts. Should I wear my cup, or should I wear my hat this year? I cannot forget the spurs. And the horsewomen cannot forget their riding sticks. The chaps smell so good! I have taken good care of them for so many years. And I will keep doing it for a few more! We get to the stable and we have to get ready. Let’s rush. We have to be there early so we can enjoy the day, as then the hours pass by so fast. The Virgin has departed in the ox-drawn cart. The Misa de Romeros is finished. The choir is singing so beautifully to Our Mother! When we get to the Esparragal, greetings, hugs and people treating each other to cold wine and beer don’t stop. Even though it is hot, it doesn’t matter. We’re all so happy. Each year the atmosphere keeps getting better and better. It’s an important day in everybody’s calendar and nobody misses it. Let it stay this way forever.
