Diávolo retires among tears and a great ovation
June 2021
The retirement of Diávolo II de Laubry has been really exciting in the Classical Dressing Spanish Championship celebrated at Oliva Nova in June. The horseman from Fuengirola Cristóbal Belmonte wasn’t thinking about competing anymore with his star horse after the horse going on 18 years, but his trainer Isidro Maldonado convinced him to do it one last time because of the good shape of the Hanoverian. He has made all of us vibrate and cry of emotion. A horse that has said goodbye in its last Kür with a magnificent performance, only one mistake in the change in stride, to the sound of bagpipes and bringing about a very a resounding applause by part of the audience, who has made a tender and emotive tribute to the horse. Diávolo de Laubry deserved it. So that the one from Fuengirola after classifying Licouratio and Diávolo for the Absolute’s final, didn’t doubt in ceding the importance to the master of ceremonies. Diávolo de Laubry shone one more time. He has been an extraordinary horse. Three SM King Cups. Always border on perfection in the podium at the Spanish Absolute and at the international Madrid Horse Week, Nations Cup. One European. Several international. It also occupied its place in the Worldwide Tame Temple Aachen, Germany.
