Cristóbal & Diávolo are for the title

October 2020

The famous horseman from Fuengirola, Cristóbal Belmonte, will run the Absolute Classical Dressage Spanish Championship with his horse Diávolo “probably one last time”. The competition will take place from the 16th to the 18th of October at the Equestrian Club Las Cadenas, Madrid. The rider from Fuengirola wants to redeem himself after finishing in the 4th and 5th place in the last years. He is really excited about winning so this will “most probably” be the last year that he will compete with Diávolo, who is seventeen years old, before retiring their magnificent Hanoverian specimen with which he has won the King’s Cup three times in a row. However, Cristóbal Belmonte explained to our magazine the difficulty which this date presents on the equestrian calendar due to “the high level of the horsemen” who participate and the inactivity that he has suffered due to the pandemic. In fact, after attending the Madrid World Cup Horse Week last November, being one of the five selected duos, and finishing in quite a good position, although the results were not the best, the rider has only participated in an International in Segovia and in Dos Lunas’ CDN ***, in Sotogrande, this September.
