We dream of doing well representing Spain.
August 2021
For the second consecutive year, his horse Trápalo de Indalo has been selected to represent Spain at the World Championship for Young Horses to be held from 23 to 27 August in Verden, Germany. The whole team will travel there with the aim of doing “a good job”. His father, the breeder José Luis Martín Lorca, is the most excited after so many years with the stud farm.
How does it feel to have your horse Trapalo de Indalo selected for the second consecutive year to represent Spain at the World Young Horse Championships in Germany?
Very excited. It is our second year selected but due to Covid 19 last year it was not held.
Will you be able to travel to Verden to watch the competition live?
Yes, we have everything organised for the whole team to travel.
The rider Alejandro Sánchez del Barco is young but has acquired a lot of experience. You have the utmost confidence in him, don’t you?
Absolutely. We have been working together for many years and we have the utmost confidence in Alejandro.
The superiority of the other countries has been seen in the recent Tokyo Olympics but do you dream of bringing home a medal?
We dream of doing well representing Spain.
What other horses from the Indalo stud are doing well?
We have three other horses that are doing very well. Quincallo de Indalo, Cantora de Indalo and Quincallo de Indalo II, brothers of Trápalo de Indalo. All of them are sons of the stallion Esbelto VII.
Q.- I imagine that for your family to get a horse from the stud farm to the World Young Horse Championships is a reason for great celebration?
It is very motivating. It is a horse bred by us and with very good prospects for the future. The whole family is very motivated but I would say that the most excited is my father, José Luis Martín Lorca. For him it is a dream come true, after so many years with the stud farm.
